3-Wire Button Photocell Sensor JL-403 Applications:


Through-hole mount Dusk-to-Dawn Photocell Sensor ideal for residential outside post light control and able to be mounted into standard outlet box, post lamp pole and wall pack fixtures. Thermal sensor eliminates the load temporarily switching off due to car headlights, lightning or another temporary light source.  Through-hole for proper mounting and wires should mount down when properly installed.


By using the Photocell Sensor, the working time of the lamp can be extended, and the lamp can be automatically controlled on and off. Realize automatic closing during the day and automatic opening at night.

FAQ about Photocell Sensor:

Q1: What effect does the color of the Cover have on the use of Photocell Sensor?

A1: Generally speaking, we do not recommend using these two colors except for the case that the customer clearly indicates that Black and Transparent Colors are needed. Since the Photocell Sensor using the cover is generally a Twist-Lock type Photocell Sensor, it is used on outdoor street lights. When exposed to sunlight all year round, the Black light control sensor Cover is easy to absorb heat, which will accelerate the damage of the Photocell Cover, thus affecting the service life of the internal components of the Photocell Light Sensor. Similarly, the transparent color cover is easier for sunlight to penetrate, accelerates the aging of the internal PCB of the Photocell Light Control, reduces the service life, and increases the labor cost for later replacement and maintenance. Generally we recommend using colored translucent covers, such as gray translucent and black translucent.


Q2: Why do Photocell Sensor Light Controllers have different wire gauges?

A2: The Leads of different wire gauge outdoor light sensor Lighting Controllers can load different currents. When using the Photocell Sensor Light Controller, the user should choose the Photocell Sensor Lighting Controller that is compatible with the lamp to avoid damage to the lamp by using the  Outdoor Light Controller with improper wire gauge.


Q3: Does a Photocell Sensor work more than one light?

A3: Under normal circumstances, it is not recommended to use one Photocell Sensor Lighting Controller to control multiple lamps. Because each PhotoControl Sensor Light Controller can bear different load, you need to refer to the Photocell Sensor Lighting Controller instruction manual when using it.


Q4: How to replace your Photocell  Sensor for outdoor light?

Twist-Lock Photocell Sensor:

Generally, the Twist-lock Photocell Sensor Lighting Control is used in outdoor street lights with the Photocell Sensor Light Control Receptacle. When the Twist-lock Photocell  Lighting controller fails, you only need to replace the old Photocell Light-controlled direct knob with a new one.


Wire-in Photocell Sensor:

The wired Photocell Sensor Lighting Control is usually installed inside the lamp, so when replacing the wired Photocell Sensor Light Control, the lamp needs to be disassembled and replaced with a new Photocell Sensor Lighting Control. After removing the old light controller, you only need to reinstall the new Photocell Sensor Light Controller according to the installation steps.


Screw-in Photocell Sensor:

Lamp holder type Photocell Lighting Control is generally suitable for garden wall lights and porch lights. Generally it belongs to the screw-in Photocell Sensor Light Control. When there is a failure, you only need to remove the Lamp Cover and unscrew it to replace the new Photocell Sensor Lighting Control.

The general reason for the damage of the Photocell Sensor light controller, as the use time increases, the Photocell Sensor light controller gradually corrodes and ages.Voltage surges can also damage Photocell Sensors.


Q7:How to test your Photocell Sensor?

A7:   When testing, install the Photocell light controller to confirm that the power is disconnected to ensure safety. When installing the Photocell light controller, you need to install the wiring according to the installation instructions. After the Photocell Sensor light controller is installed on the lamp, you can cover the photosensitive window of the Photocell Sensor light controller with your hand during the test to simulate the dark night environment. If the light can automatically light up, it proves The Photocell Sensor light controller works normally. Then remove the hand from the photosensitive head of the Photocell Sensor light controller. At this time, the light is off, which proves that the Photocell Sensor light controller can work normally.

Installation

Disconnect power; wire the color coded receptacle according to the diagram below. 

Push the Photocell Sensor on and twist it clockwise to lock it into the receptacle. 

Install the Photocell Sensor with the Photocell facing the NORTH direction as indicated on the top of the Photoconrtroller. 

Adjust the receptacle position if necessary.


Initial Testing

It is normal for the SWITCH to take several minutes to turn off when first installed.

To test “turn on” during daytime, cover its eye with sliding the metal strip mounted.

Do not cover with finger because light traveling through fingers may be great enough to keep the switch open.

Test will take approximately 2 minutes.
